On the Theme of General Malaise

So, Jeff M's blog on Toe Tinglies brings me to updating my blog and confessing that I am struggling with adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder) in my left shoulder.  I had heard about it years ago -- in fact, I recall Joe Largay bringing it up a few years ago (MADiDEA 05?) and me totally blowing it off and  thinking it'd never apply to me....Well, here I am a few years older and boom, a season without ice climbing and haven't done a pull-up since September of last year.  Last week I got a cortisone injection (wreaking havoc on my blood sugars, incidentally) and have done some acupuncture, even massage.  And this week, things are looking up.  Thankfully I have been able to skate ski some this winter and ride my road bike when the weather has allowed.  Like Jeff I am wishing I had more real estate where the absorption was better.  And lack of mobility has made some areas inaccessible.  !#$%^*()(#^*_^#&$ this Big %*#(*&^%%$$##! D  OK, I feel a little better.  Time for exercise and eating less.

Be good to yourselves and keep moving those arms in nice ways.   Also, head for the hills soon and write up a little TR like Boyan did.  (and where did that funky html formatting come from, the table??)   Day after tomorrow I'm off for Costa Rica with family.  Nothing particularly adventurous, although son Martin wants to view a resplendant quetzal.

Thanks Andy and Jeff. And you were absolutely right!!  Amazing place, Costa Rica and so close and same time zone.  I will post some pictures soon.  (and Jeff I set a new sensor longevity which lived before and beyond the short trip, 11 days I think).

I would love to do some real trekking/exploring there some day.

Cheers,

Hope you're having a great time in Costa Rica and not wasting time on the internet.
Liz had a frozen shoulder about 6 years ago that came on gradually after falling from her bike and landing on her elbow. The cortisone injections had the same effect on her.  After a year or more of physio and very slow progress, she paid for an MRI which uncovered a humerus fracture. She kept doing the exercises and eventually recovered most of her range of movement. Apparently frozen shoulders are not uncommon among diabetics.
Looking forward to the photos of Costa Rica. We're in Canmore, AB for the easter weekend - that time of year when you have to take skis, instep crampons, boots and shorts to be prepared for anything.
Keep doing the exercises!
Andy

David,
I know you're going to have a great time in Costa Rica.  As I think I mentioned, Teri, her parents & I visited there 2 winters ago.  Not really expecting much, I was blown away with the wildlife.  Whether you're a bird guy or not, you will be impressed with the rain forest, cloud forests, jungly mountains, etc.
Have fun!
Jeff
