Thank you for visiting us!
Mountains for Active Diabetics is a loose association of outdoor enthusiasts of whom many happen to have diabetes. All are interested in the challenges of managing diabetes in the outdoors, particularly at extremes of altitude, temperature and exertion.
Our philosophy is that it can be done. Diabetics have summitted the world's highest peaks, crossed endless expanses of desert and snow, run ultra-marathons, bicycled all over the world and climbed vast walls of rock and ice...
The website aims to be part information, part inspiration. We hope to amass a bibliography of reference material, answers to frequently-asked questions, and illustrated trip reports that share the unalloyed joy of overcoming challenge in the outdoors.
Site membership is available, but not necessary unless you wish to create content, add comments, or announce yourself with a personal profile.
How to stay in touch? There are 3 ways to keep updated about MAD:
- Newsletter: We aim to publish a newsletter from time to time - there's a box in the left column if you wish to subscribe. Again, membership of the site is not necessary, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
- RSS Feed: click on RSS Feeds in the menu to the left and you will see links to XML files of our headlines. These links can be queried frequently by your browser (Firefox, Internet Explorer 7), by a News Reader application, or by a web news aggregation service. (See the wikipedia article on RSS [1] and the RSS 101 at FeedBurner [2])
- Yahoo Mailing List: Join the MADIDEA Yahoo news group [3] to take part in conversations by email.
Privacy Statement: your email address will not be exposed to other users (unless you contact them via their contact form) and will not be passed to any third parties.
Please come back often, and don't be afraid to use the suggestion box!
