CatD's blog
Back after a long hiatus...
It still blows my mind how little this site is used (okay - I'm guilty too...). After being on for a short while, I found that there were very few people posting - I would check back and for days there would be no new posts. So I sort of lost interest. There have got to be a bunch of us out there. I just don't understand it! It's such a wonderful resource to see what other folks are doing - how to deal with the challenges of outdoor pursuits w/ diabetes, how to fine tune the pump, etc. etc. Thank you to all who keep posting - it is much appreciated!!
Blackfoot River Canoe Float and Bike Ride
I recently celebrated my birthday by doing a solo float trip on a 10 or so mile stretch of the Blackfoot River in Montana. I will tell you up front - this is no extreme adventure... It was simply a personal victory, having never done any solo river canoeing. And not owning a whitewater canoe, I didn't want to take on the more technical part of the river, although I did paddle through one class II rapid gracefully.
New Here - Avid outdoorswoman/diabetic
I am excited to see what I can find on this website. I am 39, have had type1 for 10 years, and I LOVE doing stuff in the outdoors. In the past year, I did two 7 day backpacking trips. One to the Canyonlands Maze District in Utah, and one in the Wind River Mountains of Wyoming (over 10,000 feet the whole time). I am interested in finding out how other people deal with doing these kinds of things (as well as mountaineering, canoeing, hunting, cycling, xc skiing, snowshoeing, etc.). I wear an Animas pump and I live in Montana.
