On May 25, 2008 Sebastien Sasseville, age 28, from Vancouver, Canada (diagnosed in 2002) reached the summit of Mount Everest. He has now become the first Canadian with Type One Diabetes to reach the top of Mount Everest and to climb all Seven Summits (according to Everestnews.com).
He also becomes the 5th diabetic (second diabetic francophone) in the world after Josu Feijoo, Geri Winkler, Will Cross (all in 2006) and an anonymous Frenchmen in 2007 to reach the summit of Everest.
