A Week in the Life of an Unbelievably Psyched Climber: Bouldering, Training, Hero Worship and Philosophical Thinkings
 

OK, so I just wrote a huge blog article about Bouldering, tonight's Jimmy Marshall Lecture at the Fort William Mountain Festival and my philosophical thinkings on climbing and mountaineering after getting back from a day that has psyched me up beyond belief, but I stupidly somehow pressed 'back' on my web browser and lost the whole flipping thing! Gutted!

"What?! We start when?!

Just got back from climbing Steall Falls in Glen Nevis, Scotland. It's Scottish Grade III-ish and between 120 - 180meters of pure water ice up one of the most scenic waterfalls in the world (it even appeared briefly in Harry Potter I think...). The climbing was incredible and I felt very at home racing up the ice on my lead pitches - and soloing bits and pieces too! Such a brilliant day! The diabetes was easier to manage than I thought with the problems of eating on an ice route - but I'll probably post a full write up when I'm not so utterly shattered!

5th International Mountains & Diabetes Meet

After heading east and being nonplussed with the climbing and wilderness opportunities, we decided to take things as face value and appreciate the various aspects of each locale we visited. We appreciated basically everything east of South Dakota as quickly as possible, taking pictures from the car, not stopping to see much other than a few stops at various relatives of ours along the way.

I would like to share with you all the account of my recent trip, so I will be blogging and posting pictures from the excursion which went from late June 08-November 08. I will be doing this in several installments--hopefully it will entertain and amuse.
Pre Departure Meditations

I have been Type one since 1998, when I was 16 years old. I had no idea how I was going to re-learn how to eat and behave, let alone where I would be ten years down the road. Now I am 26, married and I climb (up to 5.11) boulder to v4 and have spent months at a clip, hiking and climbing in various mountain ranges in North America.

I had an opportunity to go ice climbing in Ouray, Colorado in February.  I hope you enjoy.
